They waited till we were halfway through the frakking book because they’re assholes, yes, but…answers. Along with stumbling about trying to fix the implausible plot in this book, I’ve flailed
I think I made some fifteen pages of forward progress today. At last. That’s actually an awful lot, with the level of rewriting needed. I finished those two connecting scenes today. 2400 words. At last. I’m not happy with them, but I have the basics of what I need. This isn’t a final run through–this is my attempt to get the entire book in place, in close to its final shape. Polishing comes later. I have made a Resolution.

Man, there is some serious garbage in this manuscript. It’s like decluttering–first I started small, deleting the “seems” and “really”s, then I started hacking scenes, then I hacked it in half-sorta…each round I find more I need to get rid of, until I can actually see that huge gilded elephant statue that’s falling apart and
