Swimming is very good for exhausting children. Unfortunately it’s awfully good for wearing out adults, too. I have free time, the kid is quiet and happy and probably about to fall asleep at her desk–and I got nothing. Except that I’m about to fall asleep at my desk. Why? Because what I’m doing is boring.
Okay, maybe it was a silly deadline. I mean, 150 pages left to re-write when I had how many days to do it? But, as usual with me and a writing deadline–I’m done. Early. This is why I do deadlines. Avoiding writing (again), I wandered Orson Scott Card’s Uncle Orson’s Writing Class. And just for the hell of it, clicked on the character naming article. First rule: No two characters in the same story can have their key name (i.e., the one most commonly referred to) start with the same letter or the same sound).
Yay!!! This weekend I finished and sent Chapter Seventeen, finished Chapter Eighteen, and possibly finished Chapter Nineteen. Hurray!! It helps that the writing is much better in the second half of the book, I can use more of what was already there…which makes me worry for the length of the book. If I’m not cutting

Hee, I hate to post another blog, that will put Taro and Rafe off the page. *sigh* But I guess I’m about due for a progress report. So. Eve’s manuscript is at 68,000 words. I’m on chapter sixteen. I have written a chapter a week, a couple times twice a week, and missed one week
