(Reality) Check Please!

Okay, I put it to y’all. You’re in the IT department. Someone calls you about a printer acting up. The person complaining then hands you off to someone else (this would be me) who is not HAVING a printing problem, but who understands computers better than first person. Second person (me) is working with you, then gets a message. Second person tells you, “My daughter’s school just called. They let out forty-five minutes ago, and they don’t know where my child is!”

Do you: A) continue babbling about printer issue B) say “Go!” and call back to talk to original complainer or C) tell second person to call you later?

If you guessed A…you know what kind of day I had.

I also got a subpoena for all school records for a kid from the 2000-2001 school year. He was enrolled in our district for ONE DAY seven years ago, and I’m supposed to lay hands on his file?

Then this parent calls, wants us to get a message to her son to wait in the office after school.  Well…kid’s not in school.  Seems he decided to leave a little early.  And mom starts complaining WE lost her kid?  He’s fourteen, I think he lost himself!

Grr.
