I spent all day on my new fanfic chapter. I worked my butt off on it.
And it shows. Hee hee hee, damn I’m good.
Just as I said in the author’s notes, when it’s that hard, it’s either really good, or really bad. (or I just need more caffeine, but that’s a whole other discussion.)
This was the chapter that pulled everything together, nailed down the minor plot stuff, and got all the characters stampeding to the finish line. That’s what made it so hard to write. It’s not the last chapter that’s most difficult. It’s not even the next to the last chapter, the crisis, most likely. It’s the one where your characters are pulling themselves together, putting the puzzle together, laying the groundwork to make that instant’s choice that will change their life forever and getting at least five characters to get it together in one chapter is a damned hard thing to do.
Hope you don’t mind that I’m patting myself on the back. I did a damned fine job on that chapter. Now to get the thing DONE and get back to my “real” writing…
