I found some good stuff, I found some good stuff!
Napster is having a free-preview weekend. I can listen to nearly any song on the site for free, and it costs less to download if I find one I want. And wow, have I ever! I’m having to write them down so I can budget, I’ve found so much great stuff.
Such as? Umm–Sara McLachlan. How have I missed this? Some of the songs I know I’ve heard. I guess I just never connected them as all one person, get this CD. And then there’s Leonard Cohen. I found him because someone used the lyrics of one of his songs in a fanfic. So I checked him out, and–wow!
Sara McLachlan makes my soul soar. Leonard Cohen makes my toes curl. Not a bad haul, ne? And that’s not all, I found some great Native American flute music, a couple terrific African songs, a funny-as-hell Irish one, Norah Jones (wow!!) Coldplay–I have some catching up to do!
Would you believe Uncle Kracker? Me either. But “Writing It Down” is simply beautiful.
Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra. Maybe I just like the name.
Naw.
I checked out Kanye West, because my DJ friend told me to. It’s funny. He went on and on about the production, and I found myself wishing the rapping would stop, so I could listen for it. I’ll listen again, but I don’t think so. While I was wandering rap, though, I found a song called “Wait” by the Ying Yang Twins. Can’t believe it’s rap and I like it.
Hurray for new horizons!
Whoa, Muddy Waters…
