When I weighed the pros and cons of inviting Bly to share a home with me, I missed one of the most fun parts.
Back when Mary was my roommate, it was kind of annoying. Mary had a hormonal problem that made her kind of hairy, and she was a very muscular woman anyway. It was very irritating that guys would meet my ‘roommate’ and run like hell.  Except when they were jerks, then I made sure to introduce them as fast as possible…
Anyway. Today Hope’s teacher emailed me that she’s been chasing a classmate on the playground, and when she catches her, Hope kisses her.  I had a long talk with Hope about how even when it’s a hug or a kiss, if it’s unwelcome, it’s bullying. Hope has been taking the bullying discussions at school very seriously, I was sure that would help.
I told Bly about it later and she burst out laughing. She asked if I’d wondered where the teacher thought Hope was learning that. The teacher even pointed out that the kissing was making other students “uncomfortable.”
It’s especially funny when I consider that the teacher set my parent teacher conference up through Thomas. No matter how many times I’ve told her he’s my friend and babysitter.
Look at it the right way, and it’s a compliment. The teacher must think I’ve really got it going on, to have both Thomas and Bly in my…harem?
