A Poor Choice of Words

From here:

But much discussion in coffee shops and bookstores centers on the biggest fear: That white America will not accept a black president, and will use violence to prevent it. Black people point to the fact that Obama was granted extensive Secret Service protection early in the primary campaign – an unusually strong reaction to a still-undisclosed threat.

As a writer, I’m calling that a poor choice of words. Can I just point out that if some freakin’ idiot nutjob does manage to shoot the man (I pray not), it will be one or a few hate-filled psychos, and not “white America?”

Three more comments, no transitions–

  1. I pray that the supremacists and other bastards who go on about God and country, will decide for once to have faith in God’s power and the democratic process, and let those two powers decide if we’re ready for a black president.
  2. If I, (a white woman, in case you are wondering) were going to express myself with bullets, I wouldn’t be choosing my conversational partner based on the color of his skin. I’d comment more fully on those I would choose, but this isn’t as free a country as it used to be.
  3. I’m sure as hell glad Obama’s got the protection. Idiot nutjobs come in a wide variety of colors.
