Cruising for what publishers really think of a novel that comes in under their suggested length (they hate ’em, apparently) I stumbled on Orson Scott Card’s writing site. Have you seen this? If you’re interested in writing, it’s certainly worth a visit (plan for an extended stay). He’s quite good at putting things into words that are intuitive to me, which lets me drag them out in the open for a look.

According to OSC–and if you don’t know who he is, what the heck are you doing reading this? Go find one of his books!!!–my 58,000 word novel may not have a problem with plot at all–my problem could be pacing. I’m not so sure about that, but it’s worth looking at. And even if I decide that’s not the problem in this case, I’m glad I found that site. Lots of fascinating stuff, and I can certainly learn a thing or sixteen about world-building from the man…
