It’s really not helpful. I have to be at work at 0800 Monday through Friday. But my writing mind really doesn’t want to get moving before, say, 2100. I can try all day (believe me, I did) to get somewhere, but the good stuff doesn’t want to come till at least sunset.
Meh. 425 words are better than none, and I can always fix them later (on another dark night, bwahaha…)
Also, while avoiding the writing which would not come, I did laundry, cleaned my kitchen, paid bills, and made a “get to this at some point” list. (I do not get along with “To Do” lists. Ever. But a list of things I can pick from while procrastinating writing? Those items have a chance at getting done.) I got a copy of my car key, so there is more than one in existence, and got the kid a house key. I bought her a bike lock. I cleaned the stove. Swept the kitchen and living room. Since I cleaned much of the kitchen Friday, it’s looking pretty good now.
I even watched an episode of Blue Planet with the kid, and made a plan to take her to the park tomorrow.
Wow. That’s a lot more than I remembered. Now I feel better about my weekend.
Wow, sounds like you had a productive weekend. Sadly, whenever I can’t write, it usually turns into time lost staring at stuff I already wrote to try and help me out. I’ve occasionally been caught writing late at night, but my muse really loves the early morning hours for some reason. (By early I mean 4 or 5 am.)
I guess you can always set aside the hour right before bed for writing. At least then you get a small amount of muse time.
