Today my friend sent me the 10 elements from that book about writing your novel. You know, figure the main character’s flaw, figure what makes the character change things, how the flaw flubs things up, all that stuff. She said you’d think following a plan like that would result in formula fiction, but it wasn’t true. If you looked, all that stuff was in all the really good books out there. So I had a look. And wouldn’t you know, all that stuff is in my book already! Does that mean my book is really good? I hope, I hope.
Anyway. I’ll be sending it out before too much longer, so I’ll know eventually. I’m so flipping scared. But I have to send it. I have to. I know it’s too good to gather dust in my drawer. But what if no one else thinks so? ::crawls under her desk, huddled in terror::
I’m going to go dream dreams now. Hopefully good ones. I still don’t know the lead character of the next book well enough. Of course, I won’t, till I’m at the end, and wanting to move on to Fenta. He’s book three. I know him pretty well, and I like him a lot better than I do Jason, the character in book two. So far, anyway. Hopefully I’ll come to like Jason better soon.
Ugh, I just used ‘hopefully’ inappropriately, and twice in the same paragraph! Time for bed!
