Well, for a while anyway. I got over 900 words before I couldn’t take it anymore. And then I got another almost five hundred. Yep, word count for today is 1399. Not too shabby at all.
It’s difficult because I wrote this sixteen years ago, and I’ve written a bunch of books in this universe since. Pushing my story-brain back to when Ben and Eve first met, when she thought he was cute but grumpy, when he thought she was a lunatic, as dangerous to herself as to anyone else…ahh, the first happy hints of love. 😛
Despite the difficulty, it’s going well for a change. I’m still far behind where I need to be (which is DONE), but I’m satisfied. For today.
And I really like this exchange.
Talk, Marine. Damned sure if she didn’t, he would. Marcori tugged her gloves off and burned her fingers on good food.
“So where you from, Doc?”
“Evergreen.”
Inner Colony. Figured. “Dr. Benjamin Alexander, Evergreen. Sounds all dignified.”
“Shubendra.”
“Pardon?”
“My name is Shubendra. Ben is the shortened form my family uses.”
Onward!
