I was really disappointed in all I heard about Dead Man’s Chest.  There was never any debate on whether I would see it.  I just…was sad to hear I’d probably be sorry I did.  Though how, I couldn’t imagine, with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp right in front of me…

Maybe it’s a good thing I heard all that before I watched it.  Kept me from getting my hopes too high, right?

I laughed my ass off.  I enjoyed nearly every moment (there are a few you’re not SUPPOSED to enjoy, you know) and some found me and Hope gasping for breath, trying to stop laughing so we wouldn’t miss the next line.  And I have to wonder–what was everyone else expecting, that DMC let them down?

Beware!!!  Here be SPOILERS!  (though really mild ones, come to think of it)

I adore Elizabeth more with every movie.  She is smart and courageous, and I love when she lets her manners go.  So many heroines are one or the other–Miss Elizabeth Swann can swoon and simper, but she can swash your buckle, too, and you’d better watch your behind if you get between her and something she wants.  Which, you may remember, is Will.  Oh, and in this movie–she’s pretty ticked off that all the action happened before her wedding.  As she told someone while she aimed a gun at him, “You deprived me of my wedding night.”

And what girl wouldn’t be pissed at that?  Especially when you look at her fiance.

Will is still Will.  Headstrong and goodhearted, sometimes a little too quick to jump, always a treat to watch.  (And not just for the tight…leggings, either.)

Jack–excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow–what can I say about Jack?  I love him.  I truly, truly do.  I bow before the accomplishment.  I can’t imagine pulling off that character.  Though it gives me something to aspire to.

I love that they brought in both a ruined Norrington, and–oh, I can’t believe I was delighted to see him!–Barbosa.  I can’t wait to see the significance of the dog.

Is it really five months till the last one comes out?
