My room needed rearranging. Like, a lot. I’d bought some cool new stuff at Goodwill with that in mind, and then I cluttered up my room with them but I didn’t incorporate them. Today was the day to deal with that.
A “before” picture.
The pancakey thing to the right is the paper shade to my new lamp. Which is just to the left of it, bare. Oh yeah. Needed to work on the room today.
Here’s the bed in the old position. Skidoo, the Colossal Rainbow Squid, is always ready to help. Or eat anything that annoys me. Which is helpful. In this picture he is investigating the possibilities of eating the cat.
At last, curtains! It only took me two years of living in this room to put curtains on the windows! Also, I fell off the stepladder hanging the first set.
Also also, you can see my beloved drill on the windowsill to the right. The kid took a lot of pictures of me wielding my drill, but those are on “her” camera.
Umm…this was about when I decided I didn’t want to do this anymore and it just needed to…fix itself.
Brief pause to admire a lovely sunset…
I took this one with the “sunset” mode. I think it caught the light better. While the first pic is pretty, this one looks more like the sunset I was watching.
I have to mention my plant. I have a Madagascar dragon tree. I’ve had it some eight years, and it’s huge. Here’s a picture from this morning:
Here’s what it looked like after a dreadful encounter with my ceiling fan, as I moved it out of the way of my rearranging.
Here’s the part I removed. I’m so upset! (yes, it’s on the stove. Yes, there’s a telescope in my kitchen. And you know what? It’s still there.)
And…finished! For tonight, anyway. Although my daughter rightly points out it looks like a teenager’s room. It used to be very sparse! Perhaps it shall be again. I’m not sure I can take this much color, being such a drab soul. (The wallscroll is Hagi and Saya from Blood+, if you care. The one behind my poor maimed plant in the last pic is the assassin team Weiss from Weiss Kreuz.)
Oh–and here, at last, is my put-together lamp, next to my poor abused tree. I’m so sorry, Spike!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need some ibuprofen. And perhaps a heating pad.
Ow.
