$1600 for a carburetor? I paid $1500 for the car!!
Hmm. Or did I pay $1500 for a carburetor, and get a free car with it?
Either way, I don’t think I’ll pay to repair it. I think that one-time-only emissions waiver is the way to go, and then I will (I hope) buy a new car before this one comes due for registration again.
Hey. I got five years and I think about 50,000 miles out of my buy-the-carburetor-get-a-car, so I’m pretty happy with that.
(ETA: my miracle mechanic resuscitated it for $103 including the tow. Now, three and a half years later, the car does seem to perhaps be gone for good.)
