Nobody’s perfect. My dear Bly-Bly, though “not that girl” when it comes to many girly things, needed to know the shopping opportunities.
Hmm, said I. And took her to swapmeet. ~grin~
Why do I always buy hats at swapmeet, even if I already have one on? Who knows. I got me a cool Aussie hat (snaps on the side, though Bly told me “for my own good” not to wear it that way) and bought Hope a pair of pinkish-purple sunglasses. And a Magic Worm, that is just the coolest thing. It’s a little bit of fluff with glue-on eyes and a nearly-invisible string, and she spent the day practicing. The gentleman selling them was very skilled at making it act alive, and she wanted one too. Something harmless and not messy that takes practice, dedication, and coordination? Sure, I’ll buy her that!
After swapmeet I took Bly to San Xavier Mission, since we were so close. (okay, across town–but we were on the southside, so it wasn’t quite as far.) I’d forgotten how incredible that place is. Completed in 1692 (or was it begun? anyway, very old!) the walls are an average of three feet thick, and the sense of history…wow. Just…wow. I got inspired to write a Western-theme fanfic. Bly was very happy. One of the many things I love about Bly is how very much she loves everything I write–but if I screw up, she lets me know!
Foot-sore and happy, we drove around a bit, then ended up at Park Place Mall for lunch. I had a yen for Mexican, and Bly did not. And Hope never does. But my yen was really strong, so we went to the Food Court where we could each find something we wanted. Then we wandered a bit, till we found our way into Borders and didn’t find the way out for hours and hours. (oddly enough…)
Another great day. Too bad, too sad, Ohio, I’m never giving her back.
