If I didn’t wait till I was done writing to blog, I would do it more often. But since I don’t stop writing till my eyes start crossing…
Anyway. 32,475 is the total tonight. It was more, but I just yanked at least a thousand words. I’d gone down the wrong path, and screwed everything up. These things happen.
Last time I talked about organizing my writing, but this time seems to be leading towards the actual creation part. My favorite, always…
The reason I had to chop those thousand or more words, was that I made a misstep with one of my characters. And I wrote along happily, not noticing, till I ran into a wall. Everyone goofs. But if you know your characters, you won’t get far before that “something’s wrong” sense baps you between the eyes.
I may have mentioned this before, but writing a book for me is a journey to an unknown destination. Some facet of a character fascinates me. So I think and stew and ponder till I know that person, and maybe a few of the people around him, and his setting, and then I just report on what he does.
If that sounds easy, you haven’t been paying attention.
Hell. My eyes won’t uncross for even a few seconds anymore.
To be continued. Maybe.
