My friend’s fanfic A Shadow of What Was (Bleach fandom, yaoi pairings, SMUT warning) is 94 chapters long. She’s been working on it for years. She has over five hundred reviews and a 5-star rating.
Her story has been stolen. Some…person is posting it on fanfiction.net under her own name. Despite the fact she wrote not a word of it. Despite the fact that fanfiction.net does not allow stories of an explicit nature, and ASoWW most definitely is such a story.
The theft has been reported to the mods. Most of the twenty-five reviews are variations of “this is not yours so take it down!” The sex in the story has been reported repeatedly, in hopes that would make them do something.
No one cares. Do you know what that means?

What if we get banned?
Did you really want an account with people like that anyway? It’s been weeks. Over fifty times reported as plagiarism, over a dozen times reported for content…and my friend suffers. With luck we’ll all get banned–including the thief.
