“Mom, there’s a big scary bug in the flower pot on the porch, and it’s dead.”
“If it’s dead, what are you worried about?”
“It’s huge! Come see!”
Bug is big, and definitely dead. The motion-sensitive porch light shuts off. Me, comedian that I am, “We’re in the dark…with a HUGE DEAD BUG!”
“AAHHHHHH!” screams the kid. The light turns on again. I poke huge dead bug and discover–it’s not a bug. It’s a carapace.
I tell her, “It’s a shell. Somewhere out there is the live bug–and it’s even bigger!”
The light shuts off.
“AAAAAHHHHHH!!” screams the kid as she runs into the house, slams and locks the door.
Am I evil for laughing?
This is win.
I laughed, but I might have been shrieking with her the second time. >_> At least the bug is “out there”.
@Patricia–probably? 😉
@Dusty– 😀
@Bea– see, the great thing about big bugs is they don’t GET in, usually. If they do, they are big and slow and a hammer will take care of ’em. Now the little fast ones–those are the ones I wish didn’t get in the house.
Okay, that’s just the cutest thing.
