Here in Tucson, we have the lovely Reid Park Zoo. It is not a huge zoo–it’s easily walked in a pleasant morning stroll. I’ve always found it to be just about perfect. By the time the little ones are tired, you’re at the cafe pondering corn dogs or hamburgers. This was our Thursday expedition, and after Montezuma Castle, a short drive and an easy walk were very much appreciated!
Anyway. Pictures!
I love cats of all sizes. These two are marvelous.
I love this picture. I love when you can see more than one animal at a time. I know there are reasons to keep some of them separate, but I’m glad it doesn’t always have to be that way. The rhino is in this enclosure too, and several other kinds of birds.
This cute fellow (trust me, if you could see all of him you would agree he is cute!) is from South America, a dwarf hairy armadillo if I remember correctly.
His name is Cromwell, and he was moving pretty fast. Let me try that again:
And again…
See? Cute!
Okay, you can’t see. Let me try something else.
SEE??? I so wanted to pick him up and cuddle him, but they don’t allow that. Sigh.
I thought this bird was just annoyed at my intrusion. Turns out, he was hiding something.
I saw him later, in the South American loop.
If anything happens to me–look for that bird, man! I caught him almost in the act of killing that llama! *
So anyway, ending with one of my favorites–a big black kitty lolling about in the sun.
So that’s my post. Man, I’m tired. And paranoid. I think that bird is coming for me.
Anyway. More pics here if you want to have a look.
*the llama is not actually dead. Calm down, kids.
Great pictures – thanks for sharing!
*makes anti-bird warding signs*
D’awwww… *skritches the black kitty under that chin* ^___^
Need me to send Someone as an anti-bird bodyguard? (Wait, would that make him a scarecrow? >.> )
It’s been nearly a week and I’m still here. Maybe the long arm of the law caught up with our llama-cidal avian friend?
*won’t relax quite yet*
