I cut 198 words from Eve’s book today. Miss Snark said to do it.
Well, you know. Not directly. I just was reading and reading (not writing, not writing…) and I decided to get to work. She was talking about those first few pages that you send with a query, so I went there. And couldn’t believe the stuff still in the first five pages, after how many revisions?
So. Ten pages at a time–five if I start getting sucked into the plot–I’m going to chop those extraneous words. One wonderful thing already is that my attitude has changed. I’m not chopping up my precious work–I’m getting those damn hangers-on out of the way so people can see my work.
