Alas for my self-discipline, I have discovered the joys of E-Bay…
You have to understand. I have–odd–interests. The stuff I like, cannot usually be found on display. Oh no. I have to dig. (Okay, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and the Lord of the Rings are easy. I have that stuff! But when’s the last time you saw Grey in your local bookstore? Yeah, I thought so.) Being inherently lazy, this has helped me keep things under control.
Another thing you have to understand is that I used to have an awesome collection. Manga, anime, action movies, documentaries, great books in every genre, reference books, stupid-facts-to-impress-your-friends books, theoretical physics, anatomy coloring books, thirty-pound dictionary, a true complete thesaurus–I had it all.
And now I don’t. But E-Bay and Amazon want to help me with that little problem. The reference stuff, (expensive and quickly out-of-date!) fortunately, I can mostly find on the web. (MadSciNet, the 24 hour exploding laboratory, bwahaha! And don’t forget illegalworld.com.)
Now there’s an idea for a blog, sharing my wonderful reference links. There just isn’t enough time for all the good stuff out there, sigh…
Back on topic. I did find Grey on Amazon. Even more amazing, I found all 9 Justy graphic novels on E-Bay. Hurray! My collection will be resurrected! The only limit is my memory! Hurray!
Oh, yeah. And my bank account. Sigh.
Donte? Oh yeah. He’s fine. (kidding!) I worked hard and got him almost ready to go before wandering off to renew acquaintances with some really awesome folks. I will be ready by Monday. Gotta write a cover letter, argh…
Go search Grey, by Yoshihisa Tagami. There are two names on the cover and that’s only one of them, but it will let you find it. Don’t read it if you’re already depressed. Justy isn’t much better, as far as not-depressing goes. Funny how I only write happy endings, considering what I read… (try searching Viz+Justy, can’t recall how I found him, but if you’re not careful you’ll get a lot about Subarus…)
Oh. Grey you can get complete in English. Justy, you won’t. VIZ only did nine issues, and they just grabbed a few stories from a long-running manga. (If there’s more in English–I’m not quite obsessed enough to learn to read Japanese yet!–please let me know!) But the stories themselves are complete.
Enough. I’m taking the Purple Toe of Death (too much anime? I think so…) and going to bed. Visions of telepaths and light sabers and hopeless wars dancing in my head…
