It’s been a long day of adverb-zapping, here in editing-ville. I got through five chapters, I think I have thirty-three to go. BJ says it’s best to edit for one thing at a time, so first up is adverbs. Then I will go looking for misused words, like blaster, the doc’s old name, and veterans announcing their rank incorrectly. After that the more stylish stuff, like being careful not to start too many paragraphs with the same word, and so on. Especially I have to be careful of ‘I,’ since it’s all first person. I’ll search out a few more things, then last I’ll run through and spell-check the whole blasted thing. Then I’ll try to stay away from it until I get my printer.
I keep getting scenes and phrases for Kat’s book. That’s years down the road! Justin is next, dang it! Or did I change it to Jason? Oh, drat, I still don’t have a handle on him. But I can’t do Kat next, I just can’t. Something has to happen in the 20 years in between!
On the web-rookie side, awesome Hubble pictures posted today. I just couldn’t get enough, had to drag myself away. Maybe I’ll buy a poster of the more incredible ones.
Today I found an Airwolf theme, and I was so tickled! Now I have that beautiful helicopter as my background, and the sound effects when I change programs and such. It’s so cool! Sometimes I wonder I get anything done at all.
