Argggglllleee…
What a day. One of those long, slow, Murphy is my best buddy kind of days.
I woke up too early, but I couldn’t go back to sleep. I was going to go in to work before taking Hope to the library for a bug presentation (I AM the coolest mom. Sometimes) but she didn’t get up until really late. I was busy trying to make sense of all the critiques of my synopsis, so I didn’t notice how late it was getting.
So. Didn’t go to work first, still got to the library late. Didn’t get much done while Hope was watching bugs because so many people were doing what I was doing–letting the kids watch the show while they used the library–but they had mostly forgotten you’re supposed to be quiet in the library.
Went to work and discovered random glitches meant I’d have to spend twice the time I’d expected on what needed doing. I didn’t have the exta time, though, Hope had a dr appt.
Oh, and the AC wasn’t working. Again.
Took Hope to the doctor, and after sitting there for twenty minutes, found out that for some darn reason the appt had been made for the other clinic–the one all the way on the south side.
Made a new appt.
Went to the pharmacy to pick up my Rx that I’d been doing without in an attempt to get Hope and my Rx picking up on the same day. My Rx was not at my new pharmacy because for the second month in a row, my old pharmacy filled the Rx without my knowledge or approval.
Eventually got it. Came home and bashed away at my synopsis. Tried to open my MS to check exactly what Eve called Rafe (“useless bit of pretty baggage,” in case you’re wondering) and my word processor crashed. Three times. The only thing different between my attempts this evening and my opening it this morning was that I had installed some Microsoft updates.
Damn Microsoft.
Well, the good news is that it’s mostly over. I’ve incorporated or ignored the suggestions of fellow writers, I’ve hammered my synopsis into a thing of beauty, and with Bly’s help I’ve forced Vista to accept the exact same file it had no problem with this morning.
Now I believe I’ll go watch Stargate Atlantis. As long as the DVD player isn’t on strike, anyway.
