Yesterday at the Musical Instrument Museum, I was looking at things and going “this is the music that Jhi Bo knows” and “oh, hey, why have I never heard of a slit drum before?”
You’ll be spared the long rant because I don’t have pictures. Well, I do, but my camera is far away and I’m tired.
Today at the Phoenix Zoo it was the same. I wanted to see every animal, how they lived, and how their original environment had shaped them. I’ll spare you the squees about the tiny monkeys and the lions sprawled in the sun and the birds everywhere and all the amazing trees…but I was also thinking about habitats and geography and the kinds of things my characters would be experiencing.
I had a great time at both places. I didn’t choose them for research purposes. But as I sit here, yawning and soothing my aching feet, I have to admit–it’s all about the research.
Really need more time at both places, though!
Yay, fun and research at the same time. *gives you a soothing footbath*
ooh, footbath…!
Next time I go I need six hot guys with a sedan chair.
