So y’all remember how we do things at Turtleduck Press, right? Works go through a process, because we want to be sure everything we release is the best we can make it.
As part of that process, I was the first reader for Erin Zarro‘s Grave Touched. It follows Fey Touched, but it’s supposed to be able to stand alone. Since I haven’t read Fey Touched, I was the lucky guinea pig who got to see if it worked.
Oh yeah. It worked. Grave Touched is not a book I’d normally pick up, but I really enjoyed it. Then I sent all my complaints off to Erin, because of course it wasn’t perfect. What book is?
Here’s the thing, though–Erin poked and prodded and fixed those things I took issue with. And then she sent GT over to the marvelous Siri Paulson, famed in song and story (okay, I may be the only one who sings sagas about her), and Siri did what I did–poked holes and complained, and maybe even made some helpful suggestions because she’s awesome like that.
And then Erin fixed GT again. So that book I enjoyed so much is now better. And it’s coming out May 1st.
Erin sent me the cover.
Fey Touched – humans, genetically engineered for immortality and flight, tasked with protecting the rest of the world from rogue Fey…
Grave Touched – dead souls in search of living bodies to possess, especially those who’ve had a brush with death…
When Fey Touched Hunter Emily wakes up in a hospital, she doesn’t know that she was in fact dead. Nor does she know that her lover, Nick, broke all kinds of rules to bring her back. But the grave touched do.
Fey Touched Healer Asha does know that her mate, Joe, saved her when her abilities nearly killed her. And she knows the voices in her head are the grave touched trying to stake their claim. Asha needs Joe’s help again, but unfortunately she’s the only one who believes the grave touched exist.
The grave touched are plotting to take over the corporeal world, and they’re gaining strength. Only Emily and Asha stand in their way – and both are about to be possessed.
Y’all are going to want to read this book. I’d pick up a copy of Fey Touched too. In fact, I think I’ll do that now–Erin’s got it on sale for 99¢.
Here’s the sneak peek from a while back, for Fey Touched.
