They called today for my 100th day report, because it’s late and they don’t have it.
100th day report? What report?
Okay, I’ll confess. I was working on it last minute, and frigging Excel screwed up a third of it. I did start working on it a long time ago, I just didn’t get much done. It’s been that kind of year.
Yes, Excel did it, I didn’t. I don’t know Excel, I just use the damn template. It’s protected. I’m not supposed to be able to screw it up. But it happened. I did what I’m supposed to do, typed in all the damn numbers and names of kids who’ve come and gone since October–it’s for the whole year, and I’m supposed to maintain it as I go, but hey, I’m supposed to do a lot of things I can’t possibly accomplish in the time allotted–and I hit “Sort.”
It’s supposed to sort the entries by date. Well, guess what? It sorted numerically. So 1/3/06 is before 8/16/05, and ALL my work on it for the entire year is down the drain. Not only that, but if it did it with the sixth grade, will it do it with the 7th and 8th too?
I am sooo screwed….
But on a good note, Rand is back!!! Rand has been my friend since high school, and somewhere in the flurry of life’s insanity a continent apart, I lost him. I’ve Googled him frequently over the years, and found old websites and cold trails, but never been able to contact him. A few days ago I finally got the *PING* idea of Googling his sisters. And I came up with a dancer in Virginia who sounded like she might be his brilliantly artistic sibling. (he, also, is brilliant!) I emailed her and asked if she were the right one, to please, please, forward my email to Rand. Then I checked my email obsessively for a couple days, then decided it must be the wrong girl.
Nope! Yay! I’m so excited!
I’ll talk more about Rand soon, I’m sure. He is brilliant, and he’s a singer/songwriter, so he won’t mind any publicity (ha!) I manage to generate.
