I’ve been so awful about blogging lately! I don’t even know why. I think “I should write a blog post” and my brain helpfully goes blank, so I go do something else.
Anyway! That “something else” lately is getting Burning Bright ready for publication. Here’s the blurb!
To Keeper Apprentice Hiro Takai, Keepers are heroes, risking their lives to battle with sword and spell the demons that would devour all life. His master Eshan is one of the best Keepers—skilled, strong, and kind, as well as the youngest mage to earn adept rank in centuries. Hiro knows he is lucky to be his apprentice—only Eshan could have taught Hiro to control the fire-magic that comes to him as easily as a wildfire in dry grass. Hiro knows he is even luckier to be Eshan’s lover.
But when Hiro wakes as a full Keeper after his Kindling ritual, everything has gone wrong. Something is in his mind, bringing him new and amazing power, but it’s not sane. Eshan is gone, slipped away on a dangerous mission leaving only a cryptic warning for Hiro to flee the Keepers–who are now debating if they should kill Hiro or just let him die.
No Keeper is more powerful, more skilled, or more true than Eshan. Hiro knows his teacher can help–if Hiro can just find him. Find him, and save him. Before the Other in Hiro’s mind drives him mad, or tears his soul to shreds.
What do you think? Does it make you want to read the book? Did I lose you anywhere? Opinions most gratefully accepted!
