So are other birds, of course.
I took this picture at work last week. These two hang out on their light pole perch many mornings, in the park next door to my school. They have a nest two poles over from this one–I figure maybe they hang out on this one because their hatchlings are loud and annoying?
So I was pretty stoked about that. Then the other day I was walking in the park next door and discovered MY park has a pair of hawks too!
Here they are hanging out on an antenna or something.
I took those pictures with my favorite camera of all time, a Finepix with 30x zoom. I took these with my phone. (I am not claiming this is a hawk! This, the internets tell me, is a night heron.)
THESE are hawks. I actually took this picture after I came around a bush and startled the big guy there on the ground. He may have been getting a drink or wetting his feathers. I don’t know, but watching him take off right in front of me was amazing.
Parks are just the greatest idea ever, you know? And getting out and walking in them is a pretty good plan too.
