I’m trying to figure out my galaxy a bit, since I discovered waiting till I’m off work isn’t an option. The part of me concerned with finances is happy, the rest of me is a bit annoyed. I’ll be working till the end of June.
Anyway. This time of year there’s a whole lot of “wait, I’ll have work for you in a minute,” so I can still do some plotting. I’m having to argue with my inner critic. I decided that my Union isn’t really a democracy, more of a loose coalition of allied worlds. They were trying to make it all one government, but it’s not really working.
Which means the government is weak. Which is how I need it, so my characters can take matters into their own hands. But I keep coming up with better ways to run a galaxy, and having to remind myself that I don’t want it better run…
So. A troika it is, now I just have to figure out who represents who and why, what state the government was in when the war started, how close things came to falling apart, and just where does the Fleet Commander fit in, because it’s really starting to look like he’ll play a much larger role in my milieu than just the guy who saved Eve’s behind from twenty years hard time.
Not that I’m not grateful. I’d have quit after less than half a book, instead of holding myself back from starting a fifth, if Eve had ended up in jail.
